Cardiff and Vale College Advertising Campaign

To get the new brand in the minds of the locals and to encourage recruitment, Cardiff and Vale College needed a high impact launch campaign.

In August 2011 Barry College and Coleg Glan Hafren, two established and successful Further Education colleges merged to create Cardiff and Vale College, one of the largest and most exciting colleges in Wales.

The merger is part of an innovative vision, set out by the Welsh Government, to transform post-16 education and training in the Capital Region of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

In order to launch the new College, the marketing team had booked an extensive media campaign, which encompassed press, outdoor and online media opportunities; they wanted a stylish creative to carry the merger message.
We developed an exciting, yet simple, campaign using a list of key words which represented the College, and at the same time introduced the new name and brand. We used QR codes on all press and outdoor media, which linked to a dedicated website where people could find out more information about the merger, access course information and student case studies.

Results
The campaign was considered a great success, with people becoming aware of the new brand, and an unprecedented amount of traffic to the website.
