Lakes College Prospectus 2012

Lakes College wanted to combine all its course provision into one main prospectus, and also move the design forward from the previous years’ highly successful prospectuses.

Having designed and produced two previous prospectuses, we were keen to move the design forward. We had pioneered a new look and the college had made a significant investment in new photography, so the solution was evolution not revolution.

The front end of the prospectus consists of a 32-page gloss section with specially commissioned imagery, which takes the reader on a journey from morning to evening at the college, with key profiles portraying a cross-section of the student population. The typography on the profiles is bold and fun and the background colours pick up on the main colour elements within the imagery.
This contrasts with the remainder of the prospectus, which is printed on uncoated paper. This is divided into three different sections, the first part in green and grey, with all relevant college information. The second part, in orange, consists of all further education courses. The last part is printed in blue and contains all the higher education courses. The three sections give clear differentiation and aid reader navigation.

Results
The prospectus has been very well received from both staff and students. The student profiles obtaining particular praise along with the ‘day in the life’ section.
